The fourth and final volume in Series II, the present volume gathers twenty-six mélodies composed by Debussy between 1892 and 1915, two of which, the Nuits Blanches, were not published in his lifetime. It also includes the six Ariettes published in 1888, which were reissued in a second, revised edition in 1903 with the title Ariettes oubliées. Lastly, it includes an Appendix gathering nine early versions of some of the mélodies of the Proses Lyriques, the Chansons de Bilitis, the Fêtes Galantes (2e recueil), as well as the Berceuse pour la Tragédie de la Mort for solo voice.
