Purcellian Fantasia

The composition is based on the march from Henry Purcell's Music for the funeral of Queen Mary II, a work composed in 1694. The main theme of the fantasy is followed by various movements that merge into one another. In the movements, however, not only the theme is developed further, but at the same time they form a contrast to the theme. Even if the thematic material sometimes differs so much from one another that the work has its very own character, the composer always returns to fragments of the theme.
