Orchestration:

• piccolo (2nd movement only), 2 flutes, 2 oboes (2nd plays English horn in 1st movement only), three clarinets in A,
• 2 bassoons, 4 horns in E (1st movement) and F (2nd movement), 2 trumpets in A, 3 trombones and tuba
• (2nd movement only), timpani (F, C, A), percussion (triangle in both movements;
• tamburo [may substitute with a modern snare drum], cymbals, bass drum in 2nd movement only),
• harp (1st movement only), and strings.
