Commissioned and premiered by the Texas Lutheran University Choir under their conductor, Douglas R. Boyer. The setting presents four verses of the familiar carol. Much of its considerable energy comes from the very active, constantly varying keyboard writing, with everything culminating in a whirling final verse, featuring a bright choral soprano descant.
