None of the Dotzauer schools seemed suitable for unchanged reprinting according to the current state of violoncello teaching, but the quality of the teaching material contained in them has prompted us to adopt this stock, organise it usefully and arrange it. To fill in the existing gaps, older, often proven examples by B. Romberg, J. L. Duport and J. B. Gross were chosen in part and a systematically progressive and clear arrangement was sought for the whole, which alone enables the student to progress safely and quickly.
The purpose of the school is to provide the budding cellist with a secure and mannerless foundation from which, with talent and the necessary fluency, he can succeed in reaching higher levels in the art of cello playing.
This volume is the continuation of the first volume. It contains further exercises and etudes as well as additional technical requirements such as changing positions, bowing etc..
