Gustav Mahler's letters to his publishers are presented here for the first time in a comprehensive edition. They give an insight into the composer's working methods and show how he followed the preparation and printing of his works with great attention. From these letters - many of them published for the first time - we gain a rich and diverse impression of the composer. Whether it is regarding his conditions during contract negotiations or the strategic distribution of free copies of his works, it is always the real Mahler whose voice we hear.
