Like the four miniature concertos op. 94 to op. 97 recently published by Edition Butorac, our current new editions of the Concertino in G minor op. 11 and the Concertinos No. 6 op. 43, No. 7 op. 44 and No. 8 op. 45 are all conceived for the 1st - 3rd positions and can thus enrich the repertoire of all those students who can already move confidently in these positions.
The study of Portnoff's works in general will be of great benefit to the student in many respects; bowing technique and fluency are developed equally in a musically varied form. The final movement - as in the Concertino op. 11 - often appears "virtuosic" and folkloristic, which makes these pieces extremely attractive for performance.
Like all editions of student literature published by Edition Butorac, this volume also contains a list of all performance markings used in the respective work.
